In The Cave, players must select a playable trio from a selection of seven characters. These seven characters, drawn from across time and space, have come to the Cave, believing they can 'learn something about themselves and who they might become' - Although each harbours a dark secret. Every character has a unique ability, allowing the player to travel through a different route each playthrough. Some areas of the Cave are specifically designed for certain characters, possessing self-contained narratives that give an insight into the darkest part of the character's mind.
